Do you long for a new revelation?
“Jesus Christ is THE SAME yesterday and today and forever. Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings…” (Hebrews 13:8–9, ESV).
“Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings…”
The writer to the Hebrews tells us in his very first sentence that God’s final word is his Son Jesus Christ.
“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but IN THESE LAST DAYS HE HAS SPOKEN TO US BY HIS SON, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power…” (Hebrews 1:1–3, ESV).
The message of his letter is that nothing else compares to Jesus. He is God’s final and greatest word. We must cling to Jesus as he is revealed in Scripture.
Then in the last chapter, the writer warns us not to be led astray by different teachings because “Jesus Christ is THE SAME yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8-9).
Don’t look for new revelations. God has revealed himself in the inspired written Word of God:
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16–17, ESV).
