On July 23, 2020, the students from Joy Bible Institute joined the Victory Parade to celebrate Vanuatu’s 40th anniversary of independence. Their antiphonal calls of “Yumi!… 40!…Yumi!…40!” could be heard as they marched through the streets of Port Vila up to Indpendence Park.
The students carried a banner boldly proclaiming from Galatians 5:1, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.”
What a privilege to join in the celebration in recognition of the freedoms and responsibilities incumbent on us as citizens of Vanuatu and even more as citizens of the kingdom of God. “Long God yumi stanap!”
Joy Bible Institute students normally go on a mission trip every other year. This year a group of our students went to Nouméa, New Caledonia for ten days of ministry. They were able to preach the Word each evening. They saw the Lord perform some remarkable healings and saw several people saved as a result of their ministry.
Joy Bible Institute is sponsoring a night course on Genesis chapters 1-11 and its application to scientific evidence and implication for values.
The course will be taught by Maurice Nicholson who has a Graduate Diploma in Teaching in biology. For 11 years, Maurice worked as a scientist with the Department of Primary Industries at the Maroochy Research Station in southeast Queensland, Australia. His work was in the areas of pineapple flower induction, selection and testing of mutations within banana varieties and breeding of paw-paw (papaya).
This course will focus on the intersection of the Bible with science and values, with special attention given to the first eleven chapters of Genesis, the first book of the Bible. Science teachers and students are especially encouraged to attend.
DATES: Every Monday night, 13 June through 1 August TIME: 6 pm to 9 pm COST: FREE
Near the beginning of each school year, we have a special Spiritual Emphasis Week. This year, we are honored to have Rev. Stephen Blake as our special guest speaker.
Stephen is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God in Australia. Stephen and Helen Blake are long time friends of Vanuatu and of Joy Bible Institute. They have ministered extensively in Vanuatu, the Philippines, Belarus, Estonia, El Salvador, Thailand, Turkey, Israel and India! They also started the “Community Christian Schools Vanuatu” in response to the school education needs in Vanuatu. They have been a great blessing and we look forward to their ministry the second week of March.
Stephen will minister during our Spiritual Emphasis Week beginning Monday night, 7 March through Friday, 11 March as well as during the morning chapel services Tuesday and Thursday. You are invited to attend!
November 23 was a day of rejoicing as these graduates were recognized for their academic and spiritual growth over the past three years of study. They are soon to be followed by others:
Many came to celebrate the event at Evangel Temple, Port Vila, Vanuatu:
Missionary Bryan Webb did a wonderful job of preaching to our graduates about walking worthy of the calling:
If you sense the call of God on your life and are serious about preparing to fulfill that call to ministry, coming to Joy Bible Institute may be the most important ministry decision you make. Pray about it. Think about it. Do something about it.
